About Us

Akshar Eye Clinic was established in the year 1989 by Dr. Nitin R. Malkan. Over the years, he has become synonymous with excellence in his professional work and a role model for his colleagues. His skills, passion and experience lay the foundation of this multispecialty eye care hospital. Dr. Malkan was the pioneer of phaco-surgery in the northern suburbs of Mumbai. He constantly keeps pace with the fast evolving ophthalmic science and continues to grow as a surgeon every day. Under his diligence and dedication, Akshar Eye Clinic has grown into an exclusive multispecialty Eye Care Centre in Malad. It spans over 5500 sq. ft. encompassing a dedicated diagnostic zone, with well equipped refraction room, perimetry and topography room, assistant consultant's room, surgeons consulting room and a hi tech conference room. Dr. Malkan also holds to his credit various National Scientific Presentations.

At Akshar Eye Clinic, we strive to give our patients the best of both worlds: the infrastructure of a big hospital and the comforts of a private one. Our entire centre has been designed keeping in mind the comfort and well-being of our patients.

General Procedure Followed at Akshar Eye Clinic

Prior appointment would be highly appreciated. Avoid taking appointment on doctor's mobile phone.
Appointment patients will be given priority.
Register yourself with all demographics (details)at Reception no 1.
Enroll your name at reception 2.
Preliminary examination will be done in the refraction room.
Refraction will be followed by instillation of eye drops for dilatation for further examination.
Dilatation will take minimum 30 minutes. Dilatation will make your vision blurred for next two to three hours.
You will then be examined by the eye surgeon in the doctor's room.
Additional test may be required to rule in or rule out certain conditions.
You are requested to keep your mobile phones on silent mode all throughout the check up.
Please ask only relevant questions to reduce the chair time.
If you develop allergy to eye drops, please feel free to inform the hospital staff/doctor.
First consultation is valid for three months from the date of your visit.

Allergic conjunctivitis or spring catarrh is a very common seasonal disorder in children between 5 - 15 years of age. The disorder can only be suppressed. Cure cannot be offered.
